Dear Brothers and Sisters,
God bless you and we hope this finds you in Gods Love. We are blessed to update you on "Operation Light", and because of your gracious support, both prayer
and financial, Bible story coloring books have now gone into the homes of over 5,000 children, PTL!
Many wonderful notes, letters and phone calls come in from children and their caretakers; we enclosed
one for your encouragement and edification. It's a copy of the inside pages of the thank you card from a mom and her daughter whose world fell apart when her husband was sent to prison. They also called to say their
lives now have hope and they are attending church. After reading the insert please say a prayer for them.
We enclose these praise reports not only to encourage you, but so you will remember to pray for all the
families receiving these materials. God is really doing a great work through this outreach and it's important we remain focused on this incredible opportunity He has given us.
† We are developing a "kids new believer" coloring/activity book. It will be about "now that I am a Christian what do I do? It will be a
coloring/discipleship book that will have scenarios kids face daily and, what it means to be a Christian, and how they are to live. Norm is busy at the drawing board.
† In October Kristy and I attended a four day Chaplains conference in Dallas which was very fruitful. We had a resource table displaying CBS and
the outreach to kids. We made valuable contacts; one of which is the Director of Chaplains for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, a Bush appointee. He literally choked up when he read several of the
letters from inmates to their children, and is emailing us a list of all the chaplains for the department of corrections. He is including a letter to instruct the chaplains to launch "Operation Light" in
every State institution.
† There are 150,000 inmates in Texas State facilities, 97% are parents, and if we reached each of
their children and grandchildren that would be over 800,000 packages. We don't have the funds to reach 2% of them but trust where "God guides-God provides. As He opens doors He will provide the appropriate
resources. This will be a huge undertaking so PLEASE keep this before the Lord.
† We also met with individuals
ministering in women's prisons in Illinois, Oklahoma and Mississippi; they too are excited and will launch it this week. We explained "Operation Light" functions throughout the year, not just at Christmas,
and is not an outreach to inmates but to their children. Several chaplains who have ministered in prisons for over thirty years said this is the greatest outreach to kids they have seen. They have committed their
† On Nov. 6th
Frank launched Operation Light at the nation's largest women's prison, Chowchilla State women's prison. It houses 8,000 women, and we were amaxed to find out 99% are moms. He left 800 packets and we should begin receiving the letters this week. We hope to deliver another 1,000 packets in several weeks. The only thing stopping us is the postage money. Please pray for that too.
Having said all of this, we have a lot of work to do and the first step is Kristy coming into the ministry full-time. It is a vital part of being able to launch these outreaches further so please
continue to pray for the funding of that position. She starts on January 10th.
The successes we have are predicated on the foundation which the ministry is built upon. This is why we continue to ask you to
pray for the opportunities God has given us. Here are some immediate needs as we ask that you go before the Lord and "lift them up".
prayer - james 5:16
¨ Please pray for the ladies who come into the office three days a week to faithfully serve these children. Here is what they do:
They read each letter to make sure it's appropriate for the kids to receive.
o They handwrite the names and addresses on the package so it will be more personal.
They also include little notes of encouragement.
o They pray over every child and family, and soon will be serving five days a week.
o They handle all of the paperwork and "cheerfully" stay ahead of it. There is a lot of it and they keep it organized.
¨ Please pray as we
develop protocol for providing Bible story coloring books to small motels-hotels. We have designed an I.D. badge volunteers will show as they contact managers and these will be ready by Dec 1st
. If you'd like to be involved please let us know.
¨ Please pray for the Childrens Illustrated Bible. The vision is alive and well, and all that we are doing through Operation Light is a
foundation for it.
¨ Please pray for opportunities to launch this to our military overseas.
¨ Please pray for our board of directors. Ask God to give them
vision and wisdom in all that we have before us. To be active and faithfully serve.
¨ Please pray for an increase in giving. The more funds we have to work with, the more homes we can
deliver hope into.
God continues to reveal how these Bible story coloring books getting into homes of lonely and hurting children is a viable method of introducing Jesus to thousands of families. The seeds you and I sow are
having an effect and bear fruit in ways we can only imagine.
If you are partnering with us then you are responsible not only for lives being changed, but the path of children following their parents into
the prison system being redirected. This is an undeniable fact that will have a great and lasting impact on our society.
We hope you share this passion and please let us know how you will stand with us by using
the return envelopes. With the Holiday season fast approaching the needs are greater and we trust the Lord will prompt each of us accordingly.
May God richly bless you as we serve together, please call or
email me with any ideas, questions or suggestions. Maranatha!
Love in Christ,
Layne & Kristy Livingston
And these words which I
command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.
